He presented them five times. And he spared no one. Not the Hollywood foreign press, nor the actors, nor the directors, especially when they were present!
He always seems to be on a tightrope, like a tightrope walker. You never know when or if he's going to fall. In his case, you never know when he's going to say something "awful".
And what's worse, they seem to like it.
I saw an interview on a BBC talkshow where he was present and where Cate Blanchett explained that it was like being at a family dinner with a slightly drunk uncle who every year says horrible, shocking things, but true, that make everyone laugh.
Ricky Gervais is that uncle. He's even their "uncle from England". I think that if he were American (this sentence already makes no sense, Ricky Gervais' sense of humor and style can only be English), they might not forgive him so quickly and laugh so much.
